The next
two rooms continue to encourage a learning approach through
play, with early topics being introduced linking craft
activities with simple themes, for example ‘on the farm’.
Children
enjoy a structure that makes learning fun, comprising of
activities such as art and craft, music and movement, group
singing, sand and water play, group and individual story time,
creative play and the home corner. We have a varied range of
fun as well as education toys, construction toys, books and
puzzles, musical instruments, imaginative play activities,
easels, water and sand trays. These are just some of the items
from an extensive range.
Creative
activities are one of the most popular with this age group. The
activity can be something very individual and it can also be
part of a group project. Sand wand water play enables a child
to experiment with hand and eye co-ordination.
The
introduction of these varied activities greatly enhances your
little one’s development as well as giving opportunities to
begin new friendships. Your little ones are sensitively
encouraged to share with their friends. We enthusiastically
encourage them to express themselves, which promotes your little
one’s confidence, thereby gaining in self-esteem.
All of
the activities we provide are carefully chosen with an
importance on promoting your child’s sensory development, social
interaction, language development, feelings of achievement,
concepts of colour, shape and size, classification and emotional
development. The activities are all aimed to provide vital
learning in a fun way.
Provision is made for sleeping if your child requires a rest.
We have
quiet times set aside during the day enabling your little ones
to enjoy gentle music, inset puzzles, jigsaws or have a little
rest.
Daily
diaries continue to be completed, recording progress. Prior to
your child transferring into the 20-month room the completed
diary folder is presented to you as a precious memory of their
very early years.
When
your child is ready we begin visits into the follow on nursery
for the 2 to 5 year age group.
The
visits are important ensuring that your child gains confidence
enabling them to enjoy a smooth transition into a new group.
